G418 Sulfate
- G418 Sulfate, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, is related to gentamicin. G418 is toxic to both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. It is used primarily for the selection of eukaryotic expression vectors bearing the related resistance genes. Recommended concentration varies by cell type; in mammalian cells, 400 mg/L is recommended for initial selection, and then reduced to 200 mg/L for culture maintenance.
