Background Information

Pig circovirus is the causative agent of systemic wasting syndrome after infectious congenital progression (PMWS). In the case of infectious congenital developments, the clinical symptoms of infected piglets can be quite variable even in piglets. F rom mild to severe progression, the cause of death is starved to death because piglets within one week of age can not feed. Systemic wasting syndrome occurs in 6 to 16 weeks of age, when the maternal antibody is lost in piglets. Especially in pigs aged 8 to 12 weeks, infected pigs become chronic cysts, pale skin and lymph nodes It is characterized by bigger. In some infected pigs, respiratory symptoms such as dyspnea and chronic pneumonia, and diarrhea and gastric symptoms such as gastric ulcers may be present. Another important feature is the slow progression of the disease, so it can be confused with other diseases by slowly developing the disease. Infection rates vary f rom one to two, but mortality rates can be high (5-50%). When the lesion is confirmed, the lymph nodes of the spleen and the whole body are 3-4 times larger, and the spots can be observed in the lung. The kidneys may have white spots, pale and edema, which can be up to five times larger than normal. Histopathologic findings include lymphocyte deficiency and interstitial pneumonia. There are no gross lesions in pigs showing congenital progress. In the case of postprandial systemic wasting syndrome, clinical symptoms such as weight loss, mastication, typical atrophy, dyspnea and jaundice as well as diarrhea, cough and central nervous system anxiety are seen. For precise diagnosis, a molecular biology test using a PCR method is necessary to isolate virus using tissue cultured cells or to detect two types of PCV.
